The talented junior, who split her time between the Warrnambool and District league's A grade and 17 and under divisions in 2021, used her growing netball nous to her advantage en route to clinching a junior league best and fairest on Thursday night.
Van der Starre held off Merrivale's Ashlan Noonan to clinch the award.
"I think it has helped. It built up a lot of confidence on the A grade court to then bring what I'd learned to my 17s netball," van der Starre said.
"It was hard to adapt to both teams but it was still good." Van der Starre's Creekers finished atop the ladder and were poised to tackle a premiership tilt.
"We did really well, we finished undefeated," she said. "I'm really proud of the girls. We had a few bumps along the way but I'm just really proud of the girls. We had a few bumps along the way but we stayed motivated and got the job done."
