Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell said she was concerned Victorian students may have difficultly accessing university spots when competing with people who have completed their education in other states.

"We're not going to be able to compete because we've lost so many more days," Ms Britnell said. "They will know our students are at a disadvantage compared to students from other states."

Ms Britnell said in addition to being concerned about students accessing tertiary education, she was worried about the education of young primary school pupils. "You can't tell me that a five-year-old can sit in front of a screen - with limited supervision because mum and dad have to work - is getting the same educational outcomes they would have in a classroom with a teacher," she said.

Ms Britnell said parents were struggling to juggle work and helping their child complete school work.

"I've got parents telling me their aim for the day is to get their children to sign in," she said. "They're feeling like they are failing as parents because they can't get their children to do more than that - but they're not."

Ms Britnell said she was concerned about the affect on the mental health and well-being on Victorians with every new lockdown.
