It comes at a tricky time when many sports near the pointy end of their seasons.
Whatever happens, the year has delivered some great sporting moments and tales.
Take South Rovers' Steph Jenkins for example.
She's having a big year taking on year 12 and playing her first season of A grade netball in the Warrnambool and District league.
Then there are blokes like Merrivale's Blair McCutcheon who have had strong footy seasons and are raring to get stuck into a finals campaign.
Meanwhile, it's season over for star Warrnambool Seahawk Riley Nicolson and his teammates given the Big V has scrapped its remaining home-away rounds due to pandemic restrictions.
When sport is allowed, The Standard's photographers have been there rain, hail or shine to capture the emotions of our great winter games.
