The two-year pilot job, which is dual-funded, will be dubbed junior director of coaching and has been created to further educate the district's junior coaches on best practice.
The association is currently seeking applications. Warrnambool and District Cricket Association chairman Gordon McLeod said the new resource would support coach development and therefore improve opportunities for youngsters plying their trade.
"Our focus is on junior cricket and sustainability for clubs," McLeod said.
"There are some excellent junior programs in our clubs and we think this can help to make things even better in the long term.

"The role will require the person to visit each club, identify what their role is and help the club improve (processes). They'll report to the board on a monthly basis on how things are going."
McLeod said the pilot program was a "feather in the cap" of the association.
"I was rapt when (Cricket Victoria) chose us. It was out of the entire Western Waves region and I think it's a feather in our cap.
"I think it speaks to our (commitment) to advancing junior cricket and it's something we're looking at from a longevity point of view."
IN OTHER NEWS:
McLeod said while the standard of junior cricket coaching was high, there was always room for improvement.
"Some clubs are still just having a bat and bowl for junior training and that's it. There are heaps of things that can be done (to improve)," he said.
"We see even at the WDCA junior academy there are some weaknesses which could be picked up at club level."
Applications - which should be directed to wdcacricket@hotmail.com - close on August 6.
