The impact knocked out the bedroom window not far from where the occupant was in bed at the time.
The ute also came to rest near an outdoor gas water heater prompting the fire brigade to attend, but a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said they were not needed.
Alexis Tierney said she wasn't asleep but lying in bed when the vehicle crashed through the side fence sending shattered glass from the widow inside.
"Luckily the glass didn't hit me," she said. "My bed's just near the window.
"My curtain caught the glass and it all went on the floor. Their ute had slipped.
"I'm counting my lucky stars today. It could have been worse."
Ms Tierney said the car hit the side if her unit with a bang, shattering one of the panels of glass.
"I wasn't ready for it and didn't see anything coming. I was just lying in bed but I was awake," she said.
"There was a tree there before as well and it's taken it out as well.
"I was in shock but I'm OK, that's the main thing."
I'm counting my lucky stars today. It could have been worse.

A number of SES units attended the incident which happened about 1.30pm on Bayview Terrace to help clear the scene.
The accident didn't appear to cause any structural damage to the property and no one was injured.
A police spokesman said a handbrake on the vehicle appears to have failed causing the ute to roll down the hill into the unit. No one was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
