The 37-year-old will travel to the Tokyo games in July after finishing as the second-highest ranked Australian behind Cameron Smith. Olympic rules stipulate the two highest-ranked countrymen can compete at the Olympics.
Leishman, who is recognised as Australia's third-best golfer behind Smith and veteran Adam Scott, has been preparing for a trip to Tokyo for months after Scott announced he would not compete in April.

Leishman, who is ranked 43rd in the world, most recently finished 64th at the US Open. He is expected to contest The Open - the United Kingdom's sole golf major - before flying across to Pacific to Japan. Virginia Beach-based Leishman is the fourth south-west athlete to qualify for the Olympics, joining trap shooter Penny Smith, table tennis marvel Melissa Tapper and cyclist Grace Brown.
