"Just defence again, we did it well against Timboon Demons and Collegians and went away from it on the weekend (against Merrivale) and it's going to be a focus again," he said.

Thornton, who has high respect for Russells Creek, said he hoped his young players could learn plenty from playing against Creek players like Hampden league recruit Dan Nicholson and Sam Wilson.
The coach confirmed the team's ins on Friday morning.
Backman Trent Torney is in for his first senior game of the year and Jackson Cruickshank is back from a shoulder injury and will play wing/forward.
Russells Creek coach Peter Timms said his group was focusing on a putting together a consistent performance.
"Since the Rovers game, we've been looking for four quarters and we did that against Kolora-Noorat and fell a bit short and then did it against Collegians," he said.
While the fifth-ranked Creekers have recorded two wins, the Dogs are yet to post a victory - they lost by 174 points to Merrivale in round four.
Timms said it was important his side treated Dennington like they were playing a top team.
"The main thing is we treat Dennington like a Kolora-Noorat because we know how important every game is for the club," he said.
