Lewis confirmed Douglas (nee Huf), who was injured in last Saturday's win over Terang Mortlake, had suffered a 75 per cent tear of her achilles and will have surgery to repair it today.
The 2015 Hampden league open best and fairest winner will miss the rest of the season as a result of the injury she suffered in the second quarter of the three-goal victory.
"She is going OK now she knows what it is and knows what's happening," Lewis said.
"There is a bit more weight off her shoulders because she got into surgery so quickly, which is another bonus as well."

The Kangaroos enter the scheduled break in fifth with a 2-2 record.
Lewis said the team was training as usual on Monday and Wednesday this week ahead of its match against an undefeated Cobden in round five.
The Kangaroos mentor said she would decide who replaces replace Douglas in the side during that time.
"We don't know yet. We will have a think about it and try and work it out," she said.
"She plays in the midcourt in wing defence so we will have to reassess. Having the bye means I can have a bit of a think about it.

"It also gives us a bit of break and gives all the girls a bit of a chance to have a bit of a spell and rest the bodies and then we will take it from there."
Lewis said her side linked up with its junior ranks at training on Wednesday night.
"We were going to have a light one as we have got our buddy system with our juniors where our seniors and juniors train together," she said.
"We incorporate basic skills work mainly for the junior girls.
"Then next week we will concentrate on having some solid training sessions ourselves going over the things we did wrong against Terang and maintaining what we did well.
"Hopefully we then take it into the game next Saturday against Cobden."
