In a tough but even first half, the Eagles matched it with the opposition physically and on the scoreboard, with just a point separating the teams at half-time.
Co-coach Josh Reichman was pivotal for the Eagles, constantly in and under the packs in an effort to push the ball forward. David West also made a mark in this game. He consistently rebounded the ball out of defence with long, deliberate kicks into the hands of a teammate. Unfortunately, they were unable to finish off his determined work in front of goal, with the Demons pushing ahead by eight points at the last break.
Both teams were hard at the ball in the last quarter, but the Eagles were unable to limit the Demons' strength in front of goal. Lismore Derrinallum won 8.13 (61) to 4.14 (38).
While on the end of another loss, the Hawkesdale Macarthur reserves worked hard against Lismore Derrinallum. With scoring opportunities limited, the back line found itself under siege for most of the game. Darren Webb provided some drive through the centre. Matt Roache was the only goal scorer of the day, with the Eagles finishing 1.1 (7) to the Demons 21.16 (142).
Facing Caramut for the second week in a row, Hawkesdale Macarthur's 16.5s had a convincing win. Key inclusion Ollie Wortley had an impact wherever he went. The Eagles won 21.17 (143) to 0.1 (1).
Hawkesdale Macarthur's A Grade netball team finished off strongly to record its first win of the season. Struggling with the wet and slippery conditions early, the Eagles trailed 7-3 at the first break. Maddison Sharrock was brought into goal attack and Natalie McGregor moved into goal defence. This was met with instant success as the team slowly clawed its way back into the game. Lori Young was instrumental at goal shooter and finished off some good team work down the court. Keeper Annie Dalton was stoic in defence, making it difficult for her opponent to gain possession. Eagles 26 defeated Lismore Derrinallum 19.
The Eagles scored a solid win over the Demons in B Grade, 39-15. Tara Buchanan was pivotal in the goal circle, finishing off good team work down the court.
Hawkesdale Macarthur started strongly with Emily Huglin taking important intercepts and delivering the ball accurately into attack. Defenders Shacara Byers and Ruby Lang were solid.
The Eagles' C grade team enjoyed a comfortable 28-4 victory over Lismore Derrinallum. Jo Droppert was instrumental at wing attack, providing movement and strong passing into the circle. Defender Georgia Baulch was solid in defence.
Hawkesdale Macarthur's 18 & Under team took to the court for its first outing of the season, scoring a comfortable 31-13 victory.
In an entertaining match, the Eagles went down by one goal in the 15 & Under contest, 13-14. In the 13 & Unders, the win went the way of Lismore Derrinallum, 6-1.
