Kristy's daughter, Bridie, was also a vital part of the proposal and the marriage that was to follow.
Matthew hid the ring among the berries and went down on one knee for the traditional proposal.
"He also asked Bridie if that would be OK and between the two of us we said yes," Kristy said.
Matthew and Kristy had attended the same high school, but it wasn't until they met some years later at the Gallery Nightclub and exchanged phone numbers that sparks began to fly.
The majestic gardens of Chatsworth House were chosen for the wedding, with Julie Burch, who helped Kristy through some difficult times at high school, performing the ceremony.
Personalised vows were spoken between Matthew, Kristy and Bridie, with Matthew also presenting a ring to Bridie and vows spoken between the two of them.
The reception followed in the long room at Chatsworth House, which was decorated with a roof swag by Donna Scott and flowers and a centrepiece by Sue Swayn.
The bridal gown and bridesmaid's dresses were from Blossom Boutique, with the men's stylish grey suits hired from Pitstop Menswear.
Skinfit ensured the bride and her bridesmaids were looking their best, while the team at Morris Road Hair Design also worked their magic, combining two different fascinators into one stunning headpiece for Kristy to wear on the day.
The wedding party arrived in style, with the groom and groomsmen travelling in a 1927 Oakland and the bride and flower girl arriving in a horse and cart supplied by Weddings 'n' Things.
Kristy said Sue Swayn, from Functions Unlimited, took a lot of the stress out of the big day.
"She was fantastic and not only helped with all the planning, but also did the flowers and set everything up for the reception," Kristy said.
Rhiarna Wright created a magnificent four-tier cake made from two layers of mud cake and two layers of cherry ripe mud cake for the bridal party and guests to enjoy.
Lasting memories of the day were captured by Kristy Jayne Photography, who fully grasped the look the couple was trying to achieve.
The magical day was followed by a few nights away in Port Campbell, booked by the couple's close friends, and the newlyweds and Bridie later enjoyed a holiday in Queensland.
