"When we joined the club - my wife Anne and I - in 1995, a chap by the name of John Doull was in the chair then," he said.
"I remember him telling me this will be your second home and I thought 'oh yes, perhaps'.
"But I have found out that it is.
"I think I would be lost without this (place)."
The City Memorial Orange skipper celebrated his first premiership in 21 years on Saturday at Port Fairy Bowls Club.
"It was a tremendous feeling for me I really felt very emotional on Saturday," he said.
Orange defeated Lawn Tennis Blue 43-30 shots in Western District Bowls division five.
Arundell, who has been part of two flags in 25 years of bowls, first tasted success in division three in 2000.
The one-club player has represented City Memorial 413 times and is well-known as a die-hard Collingwood Football Club supporter.
He got a new set of bowls about five years ago and had a magpie engraved on his bowls as a nod to his beloved Pies.

There's also the number 90 engraved within the magpie acknowledging Collingwood's 1990 premiership.
Arundell, who has played as high as division two, has enjoyed playing with the division five side for the past three years.
He's thankful for all the friendships he has made in a team that has consistently played finals.
It made the preliminary final in 2019 and the grand final last year.
The social aspect is what Arundell enjoys most about the sport.
"When we're on the green, yes, we're fair dinkum but as long as we've got time to talk (socialise), I'm quite happy," he said.
Arundell has held many roles at City Memorial including secretary of the men's section as well as being on the match committee and selection committee.
He received a badge when he reached his 400-game milestone and would like to get to 500 or 600 like some other club members.
"If I live long enough, I would love it," he said.
Meanwhile, Timboon won its regional mid-week pennant play-off on Tuesday at City Memorial.
Timboon defeated Coleraine 67-20 and then beat Colac 57-34.
The state titles are April 26-27 at Moama.
