A handmade sign at Levy's Beach has been erected, stating "Trial nude beach - March 21 and 22".
The city council says it has no clue about the proposed trial.
So is it just an early April Fool's Day joke or do we really have a hankering for a nude beach?
The section of beach laid out for the trial is between Levy's Beach and Second Bay.
Currently, Victoria only has three nude beaches in Mornington, Torquay and Anglesea.
The Victorian Nudity (Defined Areas) Act 1983 states for a nude beach to be legitimate, the council must prescribe an area and time where 'clothing is optional'. Nakedness within the prescribed area is not illegal.
A Warrnambool City Council spokesman said it had not been involved in the trial for a nude beach.
