Port Fairy's Jason Perera captured his second Brebner Cup on Wednesday night, exactly five years after his first, and sounded an intent to return for his sixth season in 2021-22.
Statistically, the all-rounder was dominant. The triumph helped stake his claim as one of the association's greatest imports.
He accrued 462 runs - the fifth most in the association - and a stunning 38 wickets which was second only to Russells Creek captain Matthew Petherick.
Perera claimed 21 votes, holding off Brierly-Christ Church skipper Matthew Love, who finished on 17, while Nathan Murphy and Cameron Williams (16 votes) tied for third at a COVID-safe evening at Warrnambool Bowls Club.
The triumph helped stake his claim as one of the association's greatest imports.
"It's a really good feeling. Finally, I did it. I came runner-up in my third year so I'm really happy to get this one here," he said.
"I'm coming back next year. I'm going back to Sri Lanka in another two weeks to visit my family and friends.
"It's been 18 months (due to coronavirus). I'm excited to go home for a bit."
Perera, who arrived on Australian shores in 2016, also helped steer Port Fairy to a semi-final berth, reversing a wooden spoon effort from the season prior.
The Pirates, however, crashed out at the hands of Woodford this past Sunday at Uebergang Oval.
Northern Raiders' Jake McKinnon capped off a strong season with a division two cricketer of the year triumph.
He claimed an eye-catching 595 runs from just 14 innings - boasting an average of 66.1 - and added 21 wickets. It meant the batting all-rounder finished the season on 22 votes.
McKinnon, who returned to co-captain the new entity after time living in Melbourne which featured a stint at Victorian Premier Cricket outfit Essendon, will lead Northern Raiders into its maiden division two grand final on Saturday.
"You obviously don't play for this, but it's a reward for a pretty consistent season," he said.
"The club is a good place to be around at the moment. We're into a grand final, I don't know how, but we've got through.
Nestles' Tim Cain, meanwhile, was recognised as the division three cricketer of the year, claiming 17 votes after a stellar campaign which yielded a batting average of 79.7.
Rachel Sabo was the inaugural women's division cricketer of the year.
Sabo, who played cricket before having five children, was convinced to return to the sport when Nestles' Steph Fary and Gary MacLean came calling.
She didn't regret a second of it as Factory romped to a premiership in the women's division.
"I played a lot when I was younger but Hamilton was the closest women's competition," Sabo said.
"I did play with the men, but that was about 12 years ago. My last game would've been division three at Dennington back then. At that stage, I was the only girl in the competition.
"I just didn't have time after that. When I saw that the inaugural women's season was coming up, I thought, that's a fantastic opportunity. I couldn't say no in the end."
Sabo blasted 188 runs and claimed six wickets, boasting a batting average of 62.7.
