The Dees have been training Monday and Wednesday since early January.

"We mix it up, we do running and ball-work," he said.

"We try not to do all the running on one night. We work with the balls every night."

The Dees mentor said his players had been getting their running in during full-ground, end-to-end drills.

"Overall we've had good numbers up over the 40s in total," he said.

Hobbs said former senior coach Marcus Hickey had been appointed playing-assistant coach.

The Demons mentor said had been well supported by the club in his new role.

"They have been very welcoming of someone who has just come in," Hobbs said.

"It's quite an open and friendly club."

Josh Worboys, from the Colac and District league, is a recruit.

"He looks good, he's a young fella," Hobbs said.

"He trains well and trains hard."

Hobbs relocated to Timboon in 2019 from the Wimmera.

The Dees, which finished eighth in 2019, host Russells Creek at Timboon Recreation Reserve in round one on April 10.

They play Dennington in the second round, also at home.

A clash with Merrivale will come in round three before Allansford in round four.
