Practice manager Lynne Husson said the clinic had outgrown its Timor Street site.

A new purpose-built centre on Raglan Parade is under construction.

Ms Husson said the centre had operated from Timor Street since the 1980s.

"We've got nine doctors and we've outgrown the current site," she said.

Ms Husson said the new site was at a great location which would provide 26 on-site patient parking spaces and easy access to the clinic.

"We will have three extra consulting rooms and an extra treatment room and updated administration and staff facilities," she said.

"We are looking forward to moving in and welcoming current and new patients to our new clinic."

Ms Husson said the centre hoped to welcome more doctors and the new building would provide the space to do this.

She said the clinic would continue to offer a full range of comprehensive medical care for all ages, with nurses on-site to provide additional treatments such as childhood vaccinations and wound care.

Ms Husson said construction on the new clinic was going well.

It was designed by Dean Picken from Designers by Nature and is being built by Brent Chisholm Homes.

"It's a great location and a great building," she said.

"I think they've done an amazing job."

Ms Husson said the site would also include gardens to retain some of the charm of the former practice.

"The doctors have large windows that look out to gardens so we have decided to have gardens at the new site," she said.

Ms Husson said staff members were eager for the move, which would likely occur before the middle of the year.

"Everyone is very excited," she said. The medical centre is being built on the former site of a Caltex service station.

The 2211-square-metre site was sold in 2018.

Warrnambool resident Alan Tampion worked at the store in the late 1960s and '70s when it was a Mobil service station known by locals as "Surf City".

He said the site was formerly grain seller McMeekin Produce Merchants and then a taxi depot.

It then became a Mobil service station before changing to Caltex.
