The club's two crews - the Shearwaters (men's) and Firebirds (women's) - scored gold in their respective 180 combined age races at the Lifesaving Victoria Masters Championships on Saturday.

The Firebirds crew of Leonie Boyd, Brooke Green, Nicole Dwyer, Megan Titmus and sweep Greg Dalton successfully defended their state title from 2020.

The Shearwaters crew of Scott Hetherington, Greg Dalton, Adam McCosh, Dean Dwyer and Gary Askew as sweep claimed another medal after winning bronze last season.

McCosh, who is part of the crew full time again after first joining over five years ago, said the victories were a big achievement for the club.

"It was sensational. I didn't feel too good at the finish as it was pretty exhausting but we were lucky enough to just snatch it and the girls won easy," he said.

"Two golds is huge for the club as we're really trying to build our rowing group.

"We are looking to expand it but to come away with a medal from a small group shows the club has got some dedicated rowers."

The Shearwaters, who backed it up on the Sunday by making the final in open carnival, and the Firebirds will now chase more success interstate later in the season.

"We have got our eyes set on Mollymook for the Australian championships for masters and we will be looking to that and in a month or so," McCosh said.

"Then we will have The Aussies (Australian Lifesaving Championships) in April in Gold Coast.

"We have set training schedule for Mollymook and we hope to taste a bit of success."
