PREMIER Speedway has confirmed the dates for the 49th Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic after it was postponed this year due to impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular sprintcar event, which brings close to 100 drivers and thousands of fans, will run on January 21-23 2022 with Warrnambool's James McFadden hoping to defend his title he won in 2020.
"In fairness to our visiting race teams and the fans that converge on Premier Speedway each and every year for the Classic festivities, we would like to announce our dates so that those wishing to attend can make provision for accommodation bookings and the like well ahead of time," the club said in a statement.
Premier Speedway remains hopeful all facets of the weekend - including the Classic Breakfast and Fan Appreciation Day - will return in 2022.

The club will continue to monitor Australia and Victoria's COVID-19 situation and restrictions in the current season and into the off-season.
"A general loosening of restrictions, with regards to crowd numbers and travel, will play a key part in the viability of holding an event of the Classic's size and magnitude," the statement said.
"Please be mindful that we do need to remain diligent in staying safe and adhering to the guidelines we have in place."
Ticket sales for the Classic will not commence until late October to coincide with the start of the 2021-22 season and to allow for confirmation it can proceed unimpeded.
