The West Australian Football League confirmed on Thursday Cox had signed with West Coast's state league side this week.
The Standard reported in October Cox had informed the Lions he wanted to return to Western Australia - his home state - for family reasons.
Cox starred for Camperdown in 2016 after moving across the country from remote community, Halls Creek.
He was drafted with pick 24 and played 13 AFL games in four seasons with Brisbane.
According to the WAFL website, the season is set to commence on the Easter weekend in April.
The West Coast Eagles are returning to the WAFL in 2021 after not participating in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and AFL protocols.
The Eagles had their inaugural season in the WAFL in 2019.
