Jack Ansell will link up at Indiana-based college Purdue University, who has New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees among its alumni, as a punter on a full scholarship.
Ansell, a multi-sport athlete who dabbled in athletics, cricket, football, soccer and golf before shifting focus to gridiron in March, will travel to the United States in September for the NCAA's fall start.
The 23-year-old, who learned the ropes with punting academy Prokick Australia, told The Standard he was honoured to join the school and was determined to work for the starting position.
Ansell will work under special teams coach Marty Biagi and head coach Jeff Brohm in the NCAA's Big 10 conference, which features University of Michigan, University of Nebraska, Rutgers and Ohio State University.
