The multi-event swimmer wants to clock as many personal bests as possible.
Bond is part of a 15-strong Warrnambool Swimming Club team who will tackle the Victorian Sprint Championships at Melbourne Sports Centres on Saturday and Sunday.
Bond, 16, will compete in the female 16 and under events for breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly while teammate Ingrid Cavarsan is bound for backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke and freestyle.
"It's a big range of different swimmers that are going," she said.
"There are a lot of younger kids to older kids.
"For me, it's just about doing the best I can. It's a pretty big one, because it's states. There's people from all over going there."
Warrnambool Swimming Club coach Jayson Lamb said excitement was building for the event, which was unlikely to draw big crowds due to COVID-19 restrictions.
He said both Cavarsan and Bond were well-placed to enjoy success after strong efforts at training.
"Ingrid is in a good spot to go top-10, which would be a great achievement for her," Lamb said.
"Mikayla, I'm not sure where she's ranked, but she's been training really well.
"She's been attending all of our ocean swimming and training while the pools were shut during COVID so she deserves to swim well."
Lamb said the event was the club's first outing since the state emerged from its coronavirus-enforced lockdown.
He said it was an opportunity to "see where we're at".
"There'll be some really good swimmers down there, so hopefully a few of us can go top-10 and we'll see what happens," Lamb said.
