He'd made it into the 40s three innings in a row before Saturday's breakthrough century.
Gleeson, 20, said his 117 for Yambuk in its 90-run win over Grassmere was a career-high.
"We got the win which was the main thing but it's always nice to make a couple of runs I suppose," he said of his first Grassmere Cricket Association A grade ton.
"As long as the team is winning I am happy. It's a team sport, it's not all about the individual but it is good to make runs."
The Orford-based farmer said it was tough against the Meerkats' bowling line-up.

"At the start they bowled short on my hip and I like it short on my hip but then after drinks they started bowling a bit fuller so I had to buy a bit of time," Gleeson said.
"I think the longer you bat, the easier it gets."
Gleeson said Yambuk, which is aiming for finals, was happy with its efforts against Grassmere.
"They bowled all right, they're a good team Grassmere, I think they're second on the ladder," he said.

"They beat us in round two, they smashed us so it was good to get one back on them."
Tyson Umbers (3-16) and Christo Rook (3-31) were effective with the ball for the Buks.
Murray Habel (60) top-scored for Hawkesdale in its 147-run win against Woolsthorpe-Mailors Flat.
Lachlan Morrison snared 3018 as Wangoom accounted for Killarney by 46 runs.
