The contribution of former Koroit Lions Club secretary Graeme Poynton was brought into the spotlight at the club's awards dinner.
Past Koroit Lions Club president Jan Rissman presented an award to Mr Poynton for his role as club secretary. The two had worked together as part of the club's leadership team.
Mr Poynton is still a club member but has handed over the secretary role to Sue Frost.
A pair of long-term Koroit Lions Club members were presented with James Richardson Awards for their outstanding service.
Alister Lumsden and David Mathison were recipients of the awards at a Koroit Lions Club dinner held at the Warrnambool City Memorial Bowls Club.
James Richardson was a key figure in the history of the Lions club in Australia.
When the Lions movement first came to Australia in 1947, its Australian District Governor was from the US, which was the case until 1956.
In that year, Mr Richardson became the first Australian-born national district governor. He had an instant impact, with 56 new clubs, still the most in Lions club Australian history, formed in his first year.
Koroit Lions Club Op Shop manager Marg Everard was also acknowledged for her outstanding efforts.
She was presented with the Follow Your Dream Foundation Fellowship Award. This award was struck by the Lions club in 2014 to support women and children in the movement. The Koroit Lions Club awards dinner was attended by Lions district governor Delwyn Seebeck.
