At the Lions club awards dinner, Bruce Lowenthal was presented with a Lions International Life Membership.
Mr Lowenthal said he was thrilled with the global honour that came his way.
"It was very surprising but very special, to get an international life membership is a real honour," Mr Lownthal said.
Mr Lowenthal has been a Lions club member for 31 years, 20 with Macarthur and 11 with Koroit.
He has been president of both clubs and has filled the role of secretary 14 times.
But perhaps his most telling contribution is the Koroit Lions Club Op Shop, which was Mr Lowenthal's brainchild and pet project.
Five years after opening its doors, the op shop is a huge success story for Koroit and has seen Mr Lowenthal's vision come to life.
"I'm really proud of the way the club has taken on the shop and worked so well together to make it a success," Mr Lowenthal said.
"It's a great asset for the town and the community and it's great to see it has worked so well."
As well as his work with Macarthur and Koroit, Mr Lowenthal has held a number of Lions leadership roles.
These have included stints as zone, region and district chairman.
His dedication to the cause is driven by the motivation to do his bit.
"I've had a good life so I want to do what I can to help those who are less fortunate," Mr Lowenthal said.
