The Rotary Club of Terang was the first group to host a community barbecue at Bunnings since the beginning of lockdown.
Club president Brendan Williams said members were kept busy, selling about 450 sausages and raising about $875.
He said demand appeared to be slightly less than usual, with the barbecue set up further away from the shop entrance.
This was necessary due to social distancing requirements.
"All of our customers were very happy to see the return of 'Warrnambool's premier dining experience on Trip Advisor'," Mr Williams said.
"We had many positive comments."
Residents can head out to grab a sausage in bread again this weekend.
Bunnings chief operating officer Deb Poole said people were excited the barbecue had returned, with many community groups raising much-needed funds.
