As with the ever-changing COVID rules, last Friday night, just prior to Saturday pennant commencement, Bowls Vic sent out revised restrictions. The main extra restriction is the enforcement of wearing a face mask whilst playing.

They have also reinforced the Victorian government's restriction in relation to playing on outdoor greens only. For the first time, they have given a definition of what is considered an outdoor green - "covered greens with less than 50 per cent walls are considered outdoor". Not sure what this means for the 'Dome' at City but I'm sure these rules will change again very soon, maybe even as early as this Sunday.
It was very different to see bowlers playing pennant in the morning last Saturday, with divisions 3,4 and 5 commencing with a roll up at 9am. It's been an issue for some clubs, with some players not being available in the morning. With the current rules in place, it is now probably possible for all divisions to return to afternoon games, no doubt it's something the WDBD board is weighing up at the moment.
The Division Mixed Pairs is now down to the last two teams with an all Dennington final to be played on December 20 between Gavin O'Leary and Polly Rabl and James and Sheridan Barling.
This Sunday sees the beginning of the Division's Women's and Men's Pairs Championships. In the women's event, 14 teams will contest for this year's title at Mortlake and there are 32 teams in the men's event and they will play at Dennington.
The Warrnambool Men's singles championships start this Tuesday at 6pm.
This weekend in division one sees a replay of last year's preliminary final, with City Red travelling to Timboon in what should be an interesting contest once again. City have reconstructed their rinks from last year hoping to get the advantage over a similar looking Timboon side.
Last weekend in division 2, Dunkeld got off to a great start in the WDBD defeating Warrnambool White at home. This Saturday they will have to travel and play last year's division two Premiers City White, it will be a great test for the new kids on the block.
