Through augmented reality, the gallery will showcase artist's 2D artworks created at Pleasant Hill and in a first for the region, visitors will be able to see the artworks floating in the air in the place where they were created through modern smartphone technology.
The F Project president Gareth Colliton said the augmented reality technology opens new horizons for the arts industry.
"It's an exciting concept that will allow audiences to view the exhibition in their own time, and in a COVID Safe manner," he said.
"The COVID situation made it too difficult to plan what may or may not happen for the market so instead we planned this experience. The market won't go ahead which is a shame, but it's one of the many 2020 events we can't have.
"Through the technology, artists will be able to sell their original artworks and they'll be eligible for a share of $2,000 in cash prizes, kindly donated by the Fletcher Jones Family Foundations.
"We are also expanding our capacity to include online art sales for regional artists. We plan on using funds raised through sales to provide ongoing income for the selected young person to manage the website sales and augmented reality portfolio."
Mr Colliton said the gallery is planning on including all submissions the receive in the augmented reality exhibitions and have so far received many expressions of interests from local artists.
The augmented reality experience was made possible with the help of technological artist Josh Salmon.
Through the generous support of Regional Arts Victoria and the Fletcher Jones Family Foundation, The F Project are seeking a person aged between 18 and 25 to assist with delivering the exhibition and manage the new augmented reality portal in the gallery's website which is currently under constructed.
Artists have until midnight on November 15 to submit a 2D artwork before the exhibition goes live as part of the A Very Different Christmas celebration from November 27-29 and will remain active until the new year.
