"Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!," Polish president Andrzej Duda wrote on Twitter. "Congratulations Iga! We are keeping are fingers crossed for the final! Thank you for beautifully representing Poland."
"An incredible success of the Warsaw tennis player. Technique, strength, uncanny maturity and composure. Bravo!" Warsaw's mayor Rafal Trzaskowski tweeted.
"At a loss of words... Go, Iga, go!," Culture and Sports Minister Piotr Glinski chipped in on Twitter.
Swiatek's 6-2 6-1 win over Argentinian qualifier Nadia Podoroska marks a rare sucess for Poland in professional tennis.
The teenager from Warsaw will be just the third Pole to play in a Grand Slam singles final and on Saturday could become the first ever to lift a major title.
Agnieszka Radwanska has long flown the flag proudly for the country, but she lost the 2012 Wimbledon final to Serena Williams while pre-World War II star Jadwiga Jedrzejowska lost three finals, including the 1939 French Open.
Swiatek will also have her hands full to make the piece of sporting history that Poland is desperate to see as she faces American Sofia Kenin in the final after the reigning Australian Open champion defeated the Czech Republic's two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova 6-4, 7-5.
