The Bombers have added former Geelong Football League talent Josh Woods to their engine room.
Courtney said Woods, 24, was a valuable addition to the club's midfield rotations.
"I think Hampden league football will suit him," Courtney told The Standard.
"He's a real ball-hunter and an accumulator of possessions. He works really hard.

"One of the skills he's developed as well has been hitting the scoreboard when he's resting forward. All the good sides have midfielders who can hit the scoreboard."
Courtney said Woods would complement on-ballers Paul Pekin, Louis Robertson, Charlie Darcy and Liam Loubey.
He said Woods, who has been on Cobden's radar since the start of the year, was planning to head overseas before the COVID-19 pandemic halted international travel.
"I'm really excited to get him to the club. We were talking to him at the start of the year and his plan was sort of put on the back-burner when the pandemic hit," Courtney said.
"I met Josh when I was an assistant at Colac and he's developed his game in his time at South Colac in the district league.
"He's really keen to get back to playing that high standard of footy."
Courtney said the club was optimistic about the condition of its playing list.
He said the vast majority - more than 90 per cent - had committed verbally for 2021 and expected more to follow.
"We're really happy with the side we have. We're still young and developing but we're continually progressing," he said.
"I think we're getting better and better and we've adapted to the game style well in the second half of 2019 and throughout the pre-season of 2020.
"We're really excited. We don't have the experience in there yet but we'll grow into that with the players we have."
Courtney said Cobden would use daylight savings to reconnect "one night a week" within the next fortnight.
"We're looking to get a plan together but we'll get together once a week and have a run and hopefully a kick around, restrictions permitting," he said.

"We know people are playing other sports like cricket and we don't want to interfere with that.
"But we'll try to get together once a week for six weeks or so. We'll start ramping it up again as we lead up to Christmas.
"We don't know what's going to happen with footy next year but we have to plan as if it's going ahead."
