Drew, 21, was announced on Tuesday as one of three Power players to re-sign until the end of 2022.

The three-time Hampden league premiership player - a feat achieved by the age of 18 - has played 10 AFL matches since arriving at Port Adelaide via the 2016 national draft.

Injuries, including foot problems, have restricted Drew's appearances in black, white and teal.

He debuted in round one last year. He is yet to feature in the Power's best 22 this year due to injury concerns.

"We saw glimpses of what Willem can do at AFL level last year, when he debuted and played the first eight games of the season," Port Adelaide general manager of football Chris Davies said.

"He is able to play both on the inside and outside, and has a great game sense.

"We expect him to get more opportunity to play at AFL level in the coming years."

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, who hails from Camperdown, told The Standard earlier this year he had high hopes for Drew.

"Drewy as a local Warrnambool boy, everyone should be looking forward (to watching him because) with an injury-free run Willem Drew will be a very, very good AFL player," he said in April.

"I think all the Koroit people would know what he's like. He's a hard worker, a hard runner and will do anything for the team.

"He's a big boy. People don't realise he's a 192 or 193-centimetre midfielder and he's a powerful runner."
