Viva-Lyn Lenehan announced last week she was hoping to win a seat at Moyne's council table.
Ms Lenehan joins other new women candidates Karen Foster, Genevieve Grant and Penny Iddon in the search for a council place.
Cr Jill Parker is the only current female councillor, but she has indicated she will not contest the 2020 election, instead stepping aside after 12 years as a councillor.
A push for more female representation at Moyne Shire Council began last November with the formation of the Women of Moyne group.
Members of this group addressed Moyne's November meeting last year, calling for councillors to elect Cr Jill Parker as mayor, a position she has never held.
This presentation was unsuccessful, with councillors voting in Cr Daniel Meade for his inaugural term in the top job.
