Terang Harness Racing Club's vice-president Clare Payne believes the club's metropolitan class meet now has a higher chance of attracting quality runners.

The club, sponsor Christian's Bus, the O'Connor family and the Terang Harness Owners, Trainers and Supporters Group have joined forces to add $10000 prize money to the main race on Saturday September 12.
The 1680-metre Gammalite Race now has $30000 attached to it, $10000 more than any other on the eight-race card.
"We wanted this feature race so we had to put money towards it which incorporated those four groups," Payne said.
"And we needed to put a name on it.
"Everybody knows Gammalite was a stayer but this isn't about recognising his staying ability.
"This is about recognising him as a local champion horse on a feature race we've never held at Terang before."

She added naming the feature race after Gammalite was about acknowledging all the people who have put in their time and effort into the club over generations.
Payne said Christian's Bus had committed to sponsor a Gammalite race of some description each year for the next three years.
She heaped praise on the Terang Harness Owners, Trainers and Supporters Group.
Group committee member Marg Lee said "we're fully behind the club to do whatever is going to help them get the meeting going".
She explained members had worked hard to raise money for the club's stable upgrade and were eager to help with other initiatives.
Gammalite is buried at the Terang track with a plaque.
He was owned by Leo and Maureen O'Connor, trained by Leo and driven by Bruce Clarke.
