Views from the West combines the work of Harley Manifold and Kathryn Ryan and looks at how the two artists have been continually tied to their home region despite moving to cities and abroad.
"Growing up in the Western District, the lens I view the world was shaped by the land around me," Manifold said.
"A great many adventures were had, of varying degrees of success, all of which led to more or different threads in my works unravelling or being tied up.
"Yet throughout all of them there was a following of the sunset and dusk, pointing my lens back west towards home.
"When I arrived back here in Warrnambool after starting my painting journey here at Deakin, I finally feel like I am home."
The pair previously presented a joint exhibition at the Flinders Lane Gallery but this is the first time both artists have held an exhibition in their home region.
For Ryan, the exhibition reflects her love for the south-west and how it's shaped her as an artist.
"Western Victoria, the place I call home, this landscape I grew up in and have returned to, permeates how I see the world and identify my experiences," she said.
"The landscapes and environments surrounding us help define who we are. They influence our sensibilities and way of seeing.
"They offer the inspirations for my artwork, what resonates for me, entwined in the place where my memories are recollected."
Both artists dived into their archives for the exhibition and present some works never shown before.
The F Project is temporarily closed during stage three coronavirus restrictions but Views from the West can be viewed online via thefproject.org.au until September 13.
The F Project's virtual exhibitions are supported by funding granted through Creative Victoria and Regional Arts Victoria. Private viewings can also be arranged by appointment only.
