Detective Senior Constable Jess Johnston, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said there had been three burglaries at either homes under construction or a tradesman's shed behind a home in the past few days.
"There's a wide range of expensive battery and electrical tools that have been stolen, including angle grinders, drop saws, drills, hammer drills and welders ," she said.
"Across the three burglaries tools valued at about $10,000 have been taken.
"We are encouraging tradesmen to engrave their tools and record the serial numbers of all their equipment."
The Colac district burglaries, at west Colac and Elliminyt, follow the arrest of a man in woman in Warrnambool the previous weekend after a series of break-ins at a new south Warrnambool housing estate.
Detective Senior Constable Mick Palmer said a warrant was executed at a home in Colac's Queen Street late last week.
He said moderate amounts of methamphetamine, cannabis and GHB were located in the raid.
"A 27-year-old Colac man was arrested, interviewed, charged and bailed to appear in the Colac Magistrates Court during November," he said.
"He was charged with possession of all three illicit drugs."
Detective Senior Constable Palmer said that vital information from the public led to the warrant being obtained and executed.
Anyone with information about illicit drugs or suspected drug activity is requested to contact their local police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"Because of the information we have received in the past few weeks we have executed five or six search warrants and they have all resulted in people being arrested and charged," he said.
