The festival is scheduled to be held on the weekend of November 13-15, with the Reardon Theatre as the key venue.
Athena Morton, who founded the festival along with her husband Leon, said the COVID-19 pandemic had caused some uncertainty.
"At this stage we are preparing as if the festival will be going ahead," Ms Morton said.
"We do have an internal date set when we will make a call on if we need to cancel and get ready to go bigger and better in 2021.
"Like everyone else we are waiting to see what happens and the safety of our community is the most important thing.
"If we did cancel, we wouldn't be changing course and running the festival online.
"The festival is all about people coming together and having a shared experience so we need that face-to-face contact."
The festival received some positive last week when Moyne Shire Council allocated $9690 out of its festival and events funding pool to the event, which made its debut last year.
Ms Morton praised Moyne Shire Coincil for its support.
"We are absolutely thrilled to get the funding," Ms Morton said.
"Moyne have been a great supporter of the festival since day dot and their support is even more important in these trying times."
The 2019 festival featured the screening of 50 films, with over 2000 people attending.
This strong start generated plenty of positive energy around the event which brought a lot of interest.
"We have 170 film submissions this year which is really pleasing," Ms Morton said.
