Moyne Shire Council has allocated $50,000 to have a streetscape master plan created for Commercial Road.
This includes ascertaining the cost of removing or reducing overhead powerlines along the main street.
It also covers the cost of a consultant from Melbourne, who has begun working on the master plan.
The Koroit Progress Association is working closely with the consultant and council on the project.
Progress association secretary Renee Lane said within the next fortnight, residents and businesses in Commercial Road would be engaged for their comments on the project.
The greater Koroit community will have the opportunity to have their input.
"It's great to have this process up and going," Ms Lane said.
"Moyne Shire has been really supportive of the opportunity for the Koroit community to have a say on what our main street should look like.
"Koroit is in a strong position and is heading into an exciting period."
