The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the Warrnambool Eisteddfod as victim, with all activities associated with the annual event cancelled for 2020.
The eisteddfod usually runs from April to August in various venues around Warrnambool.
Eisteddfod competitions include speech and drama, vocal and instrumental, dance, debating, highland dance and calisthenics.
Eisteddfod president Robert Coffey said re-scheduling for 2020 was not an option.
"With the venues we use, there would likely be a collision of dates with other events that usually happen later in the year, so that would make it unworkable," Mr Coffey said.
"We decided if we couldn't have everything then we wouldn't have anything, it was all or nothing.
"We will reset and get ready for next year.
"A lot of planning we have done will be able to go forward to next year so that will give us a good start on 2021."
Mr Coffey said eisteddfod fees paid before the cancellation of the event would be refunded in due course.
