It comes after the Cramer Street-based association was given the green light to return to training from Monday.
Association president Sharyn Stevenson is bullish about squeezing in a season for its six clubs - Strikers, Submariners, Mariners, Technique, Corangamite and Portland.
Its season usually starts in April and finishes in September.
Stevenson said a return-to-training was the first step back.
"It means everything to a lot of people," she said.
"It means we're on the way back and hopefully we can have some form of season, possibly starting in July.
"Hockey Victoria, our governing body, is working on July. All things going well, I can't see why we won't be able to get out there and compete."

Stevenson said the association's teams trained on different nights.
She also said Portland, which joined this year and will feature in the men's, women's and under 16 competitions, was also contemplating training in Warrnambool on Saturdays.
"They'll train here before the season starts, if possible," Stevenson said.
"They can train on a full (synthetic) field here because it's mostly grass where they are."
Any new players are encouraged to contact Stevenson on 0478 572 057 or secretary Mark Bridge on 0408 992 879.
