Midas Peak lines up with Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Brett Prebble in the saddle against rivals including other Warrnambool-trained gallopers Break And Enter and Unrealistic in the 1600-metre race.
Purcell said the lightly-raced Midas Prince handled all types of going and was knocking on the door for his first metropolitan victory.
MORE RACING:
"Midas Prince is in great shape," the multiple group one-winning trainer said.
"I'm expecting him to run very well. I've been happy with his two runs in this campaign.
"He's drawn an ideal barrier and this looks a very good chance in this race. We're hoping that Brett has Midas Prince in a forward position in the run.
"He's been consistent during his career and I can't see why he will not be the same on Saturday."
Midas Prince has won five of his 21 starts.
Break And Enter will not be the only horse Warrnambool trainer Matthew Williams runs on Sandown's nine-race program.
Harbour Views resumes from a spell and will attempt to win his sixth race from seven starts for Williams in a 1400m race.
Fellow trainer Maddy Raymond saddles up stable newcomer Pacodali in the race while other local trainers Daniel Bowman and Symon Wilde have runners.
Meanwhile, top two-year-old filly Away Game, the winner of four of her seven starts, has drawn barrier four in the group one $400,000 Sangster Stakes at Morphettville.
Away Game, trained by the powerful Ciaron Maher-David Eustace combination, carries only 47 kilograms in the sprinting classic and is rated a $4.50 chance of winning in the early betting markets.
