Yogi is only one of six runners in the 16-horse field that have run over the 3200 metres of the Adelaide Cup and Maher who trains in combination with David Eustace believes that will help the seven-year-old.
"I've got my fingers crossed there will be a good tempo in the cup, if there is I'm confident Yogi will run well," the Winslow-raised trainer said.

"He's a back-maker and needs good pace in the race to finish it off strongly.
"He's had the two runs from a break and I've been happy with them.
"His last run at Moonee Valley was better than it looks on paper.
"There was no pace in that race so I'm prepared to forget that effort.
"His first up performance at Caulfield was good.
"One thing in his favour is some horses in the Adelaide will struggle to run out the 3200 metres, but he will."
Yogi is a $17 chance in the early betting markets for the group two race.
Popular Warrnambool-based jockey Declan Bates rides the Paul Preusker-trained Dark Alley in the Adelaide Cup.
Bates has ridden Dark Allley to his last two wins at Geelong and Morphettville.
Preusker won last year's Adelaide Cup with Surprise Baby.
Meanwhile, Maher was happy with the run of his classy filly Loving Gaby in the group one Newmarket Handicap at Flemington on Saturday.
Loving Gaby ran second behind Bivouac in the $1.25-million race.
"Loving Gaby is a top filly, she lost no admirers with her second-placing," he said.
"She was beaten by a top colt. We've got no excuses.
"We'll look at running her in the William Reid at Moonee Valley.
"She likes that track and then we'll take her to Sydney for the TJ Smith."
Loving Gaby picked up $225,000 in prize-money for her connections with the second-placing in the Newmarket.
