Port Fairy Folk Festival revellers chat about the changes over the years

Hamilton's Wendy McGuiness said her Folkie count is up to "too many to count" but she keeps coming back for more.

"I actually went to the first one, purely by accident," she said.

"I grew up in Macarthur and we went for a drive on a Saturday afternoon and went to the Gardens Oval. There was a semi-trailer with a band playing on the back and apparently that was the very first Port Fairy Folk Festival.

"This year It's been a little different. I'm finding it a bit confusing as they've renamed all the stages. People don't know where they are as they've moved everything around.

"But we're still getting into it."

David Harris has been the festival's official photographer for 12 years.

"I do about 20 festivals a year around the world but this is my home festival," he said.

"Even though I live in Melbourne, I know I get treated well here.

"The community spirit is the best.

"This year it's all wide open; they've changed the system around so you can walk to stages a lot easier than in past years.

"They've done a great job."
