South Warrnambool's historic Edwards Bridge bridge will undergo a $80,000 makeover in a bid to strengthen the structure.

The works are expected to be carried out across May and June this year. They will involve adding two steel beams along each side of the bridge, the city council said in a statement.
The cost of the Stanley Street bridge project is expected to be $80,000.
The timber bridge, which is more than a century old, underwent major strengthening works to increase its load carrying capacity in 2017.
Hopkins River Bridge will also undergo a $462,000 upgrade this year after assessments found corrosion on parts of the structure.
Work will also begin today to fix Tozer Road between McGregors Road and Walker Court. It is expected to take three weeks.
Work on Merrivale Drive will be carried out during March and April and Walsh Road between May and June.
