Victor Daicos, 52, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being arrested on a warrant of apprehension.
The warrant had been issued for his arrest in relation to failing to answer bail, burglary, a weapons offences and theft.
Police allege he attended Warrnambool's Rebel Sport overnight on September 1 last year and gained access to the roof via a ladder at the rear of the store.
He then cut multiple holes in the roof before climbing through into an office area of the shop.
Armed with an angle grinder, he attempted to access a safe but had no luck and climbed back through the roof.
Police attended the scene and located shoe impressions, forensic evidence, a cigarette lighter, a flat-bladed screw driver and chain links - all alleged to have been left behind by the accused.
The damage to the store was estimated at $14,800.
Mr Daicos was arrested, interviewed, charged and bailed from Warrnambool Magistrates Court on January 20.
But after failing to attend court on March 2, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He attended Sunshine police station on March 3 to say he had forgotten to attend court and was subsequently arrested.
After a failed self-represented bail application on Wednesday, Mr Daicos became agitated and is alleged to have made a comment to a magistrate like: "I'll find you".
Police are expected to investigate the comment and listen to a recording of the court proceeding before a decision is made on whether to charge the man.
