After a difficult start to 2020 with the Budj Bim fires, Suffoir Vineyard owner and committee member Michelle Badenhorst hopes the event will bring people back to the Macarthur area.

"We've had a bad run leading into the festival so it will be very important to help us get back on top again," she said.

"The fires affected our little community and Budj Bim is still closed. As a business owner, we've had a quarter of the visitors we'd normally get who call in on their way to the UNESCO World Heritage listed site.

"There's still lots to see and do here."

Music in the Vines is this year bringing Australian music industry legend Russell Morris to the Suffoir Vineyard stage.

Known for his incredible blues-rock voice and hits including The Real Thing and Rachel, Morris is headlining the one-day event.

Alongside ARIA-winning Morris are south-west talents Flynn Gurry and Cooper Lower as well as Mariah Jayne, Tanya George, The Borderers and Woody Pitney.

"We have also incorporated some new elements this year," Mrs Badenhorst said.

"In between the stellar line-up we have dance groups from across the region performing. There is also kids' activities including face painting.

"It's a good family day event with a great atmosphere."

The festival committee has put in a lot of hard work to get the event to where it is. Music in the Vines has seen its biggest number of pre-sale tickets sold this year with 600 people set to converge on Suffoir Vineyard on Saturday.

Music in the Vines runs from 11am to 11pm on Saturday, February 29 with buses running from Hamilton, Allansford, Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Portland and Heywood.
