For others, it will be business as usual.
A group of south-west drivers are heading to Tailem Bend for the first round of the southern hemisphere's premier championship.
It's contested across five rounds in four Australian states.
Warrnambool Kart Club's (WKC) Ryan Cook, who is in the KA3 senior class, is aiming to race in all rounds for the first time.

"I'm a bit nervous but excited to get into it and race against some better competitors than what I have been," he said.
Cook is eager to build on the rounds he competed in last year.
He's looking forward to being part of the major series again.
"People come from all over Australia just to race in this championship, it's pretty exciting going into it knowing that now you're part of all that," he said.
"And that you've got the skill to race too."
Cook's goal is to finish top ten overall this year.
He trained at Tailem Bend in South Australia three weeks ago, as did fellow club member Jay Coul.
Coul, who competes in the KZ2 class, is taking on the championship for the fourth time.
He secured second place at the Melbourne round in 2019.
"I'm just hoping to win the whole championship this year," the 17-year-old said.

His best overall result was eighth which he achieved four years ago.
WKC's Will Carroll, Nicholas Ryan and Jaxon Johnstone are also racing this weekend.
Portland District Karting Club's Corey Herbertson and Todd Chambers are set to take on the KA3 senior.
Hamilton Karting Club driver Derrick Rodgers will compete in the X30 class.
South West Kart Club member Rusty Ponting is racing in the cadet 12 class.
The youngster represented his club at the Formula One Grand Prix Celebrity Challenge at Todd Road on Saturday.
Ponting was crew chief for Collingwood Football Club coach Nathan Buckley.
