A Warrnambool man has been charged with one count of murder following an alleged fatal assault in the city last year.

A 28-year-old Warrnambool woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening head and spinal injuries following the incident on November 27 last year however she died in hospital on December 4.
A 37-year-old Warrnambool man was initially charged with intentionally cause serious injury and recklessly cause serious injury.
On Friday, those charges were upgraded to one count of murder.
He was further remanded to appear at Warrnambool Magistrates Court for a committal mention on March 27.
The woman was allegedly found at her Ocean Grove home last year and an unknown person called an ambulance.
She was transported to the Warrnambool Base Hospital, assessed and treated before being flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition with head and spinal injuries.
The woman was placed on life-support and had remained in a critical condition there until life-support was turned off in December.
Victoria Police homicide squad detectives took over the case prior to the woman's death after initially assisting Warrnambool-based police family violence unit investigators.
