The shire joins the 15 local government areas declared under the arrangements, which includes Southern Grampians and Glenelg shires.

It comes after The Standard reported that Moyne Shire had missed out on special bushfire recovery funding announced on Thursday, despite the 6400-hectare Budj Bim-Condah fire affecting significant areas of the shire's national park.

The dedicated bushfire recovery funding round is available to event organisers who can demonstrate how they would attract visitors from outside their region.

Moyne Shire mayor Daniel Meade said on Friday that the failure to include the region in the arrangements would impact local community events such as Macarthur's Music in the Vines Festival.

But a government spokesman has since told The Standard that some local government areas had subsequently been declared under the arrangements, including Moyne, and were now eligible for the events funding.

The Bushfire Recovery round of the Regional Events Fund provides grants of up to $20,000 for eligible events, to help organisers attract visitors and hasten recovery from the impacts of the bushfires.

The spokesman said there was also a current general round of the Regional Events Fund open to events across Victoria, and another round which would be opening in March.

"The Visit Victoria campaign 'A Short Stay Goes A Long Way' encourages Victorians to get out and experience the best of regional Victoria, including places like Port Fairy and Warrnambool," he said.

"We're backing events and tourism operators across the state at a time when many are facing significant challenges."
