Barling defeated Pauline Price from Corangamite, 28 shots to 11. The Coragamite team of Damian Riches, Darren Mulgrew, Nick Kemp and Colin Whiteside defeated Western District's Neil Crisp, Trevor Bolden, Peter Kampman and Brian Scott 24-14 in the final of the men's fours. The winners head to state championship week in April at Bendigo.
DIVISION
The division greens committee was out and about on Monday, inspecting clubs' greens leading up to the finals to ensure they comply with the standards. Conjecture has been rife among some bowlers in relation to the new Warrnambool greens being up to the required standard for the grand finals, which are to be played there this year. The committee gave the greens a glowing report.
PENNANT
Most games were played out in trying conditions on Saturday, but with two of the three matches being abandoned in division four, the new inclement weather rule was used. Rule 8(d) states: If half, or more than half, of the matches of a pennant division are abandoned because of inclement weather, points for that division will be shared".
In Saturday division one action this week, there's a few games that could be critical in shaping the final four. Third-placed Timboon travels to Warrnambool to take on fourth-placed City Gold. There's only one point separating them, with City having a superior percentage. Mortlake could replace the loser in the top four if it can beat second-placed City Red at home. Koroit could still be in the race for finals if it beats bottom-placed Warrnambool Blue. Division two is also tightening up, with only two points separating third and sixth spot.
In midweek pennant this week, the two top teams played out a thrilling 65-shot a piece draw, Warrnambool Gold getting the extra points from City Gold winning two rinks to one.
