Fighting cancer: Walkers will start making their way around the Deakin University oval for the Warrnambool Relay for Life at 6.30pm, with the traditional candlelight march to commence around 9.15pm. The event will conclude at 11am on Saturday. People wanting to participate can still register for the event at the Deakin University site on Friday afternoon.
Body shapes: Artists Tanja Bruckner and Steve Tierney are challenging a range of gender stereotypes and societal norms in their sneak peak exhibition at The F Project ahead of their Port Fairy Winter Weekends art installation. The F Project is open from 10am-4pm on Wednesday-Sunday.
Sculptural experience: In collaboration with the Warrnambool Art Gallery (the WAG) Simon Linardi will be presenting the grand opening of 'The Bull-Cow' : a magical creature that will be installed in the family learning front gallery space. The Bull-Cow opens tonight at 6pm and runs until June 8.
Class acts: See an array of south-west talents at this month's 15 Minutes of Fame at the Crossley Hall. Admission is $15 and children 12 and under are free. Doors open at 6.00pm with dinner available from 6.30pm and the show begins at 7.30pm.
Jazz sounds: An Open Mike session will be held from 8pm in the Lecture Hall, Port Fairy. The Melbourne Music Performers' House Cats will provide the backing for non-festival performers who are seeking their time in the spotlight with a list of songs provided.
Port Fairy Jazz Festival: There are stacks of events throughout Port Fairy this weekend for their annual jazz festival. Head to portfairyjazz.com.au/program.html for the full rundown of events and locations.
Live music: June Skye will perform at Images Restaurant from 6.30pm. The Eddy Boyle Trio will delight Laneway Bar from 6.30pm and 4 Wide will keep walkers going at Relay for Life.
Saturday February 8
Agricultural show: Head along and enjoy the 103rd Tyrendarra Show at the Tyrendarra Recreation Reserve. The day features a pet competition, cattle, horses, sheep, poultry, a Car Show and Shine, vintage tractor and motor display, craft, cooking and vegetable competition plus a whole lot more. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and children under 13 are free.
Champion surfers: The Great South Coast Disabled Surfers Association kicks off with registration from 9am and surfing from 9.30am at the Warrnambool Surf Life-Saving Club. Head along to volunteer your morning helping bring smiles to surfers of all-abilities.
Jazz parade: There will be plenty of colour with a street parade at 10am in Sackville Street, Port Fairy. Those taking part are asked to dress in purple and gold attire, giving the event a very Port Fairy look.
Basketball: Warrnambool Mermaids will play Millicent Magic in the Country Basketball League south-west conference grand final in Portland from 6pm.
Eurovision: You will have the opportunity to vote for Didirri's Raw Stuff to be the country's selection for Eurovision by heading to the SBS website throughout Saturday and texting his number to 1999 2222. SBS will broadcast the performances live from 8.30pm.
Live music: Louie and Dazz will hit the Gordon Hotel stage in Portland at 9.30pm. True North will perform at Seanchai Irish Bar at 10pm. Wild Things will be rocking through the evening at the Vic Hotel from 8.30pm. Sam Grayson Duo will be at The Stump, Port Fairy from 9.30pm.
Sunday February 9
Surf's up: Head to East Beach from 10.30am and get involved in Nippers. Contact Nicole Dwyer on 0419 568 775 for more information. Nippers will be held every Sunday until February 23.
Fitness: The Warrnambool Foreshore Triathlon has an open event with a 500-metre swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run beginning at 7.30am. There is a Come and Tri event which starts at 7.45am with a 250m swim, 5km ride and 1.6km run. There is also an all-abilities event starting at 10am and junior events start at 10:45am. Registrations can be made online or in-person on Saturday from 3-5pm at the Pavilion Cafe and Bar.
World-record attempt: The Port Fairy Jazz Festival is calling on everyone who is light on their feet to come along and take part in a world record attempt for the most people dancing the Charleston at one time. The record to be broken is 1096 with the attempt to break that to be held on Fiddler's Green, Port Fairy at 11am.
Comedy: The hilarious Fiona O'Loughlin will hit the Mozart Hall stage from 6pm.
Bushfire relief: Warrnambool Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser at Lady Bay Resort has a massive auction, raffle and entertainment for the whole family with tickets $30 which includes an entry into the mega draw.
Live music: Louie and The Melways will perform through the afternoon at Hotel Warrnambool from 3pm.
