The Harrow Balmoral Football Netball Club will travel to Kangaroo Island on February 23 to help out.
Club president Michael Phelan said head coach Nick Pekin floated the idea to members, who quickly took up the challenge.
"We decided we should open up the idea to the whole club and instead of the usual camp get the whole community involved," Mr Phelan said.
He said the club had been forced to cap numbers at 40, but the level of interest far exceeded that.
"We've had members young and old wanting to help," Mr Phelan said.
He said a number of community members knew people who lived on the island.
Mr Phelan said the club was happy to be able to give back and help people who had been left devastated by the blazes.
"We've set up a steering committee and we will be helping for two full days," he said.
"We plan to break up into teams and will probably be helping with fencing, cleaning up and fixing property that has been damaged."
Mr Phelan said in addition to giving back, he believed the experience would provide the opportunity for team building activities.
"We're not going to change the world over there but if we can help in some way that would be good," he said.
Mr Phelan said he was proud of the community for stepping up to help.
"It's a great community - it never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to come forward and help," he said.
"People are always willing to offer assistance wherever they can."
