Port Fairy Red was thumped last time it battled Mortlake, but third Alan Parker says a confidence-boosting 15-shot win over Warrnambool Blue has it primed to make amends next Saturday.

Parker said players - including lead Colin Dempsey - were beginning to find form.

"Things haven't really clicked for us this season," he said.

"Our leader (Dempsey) has struggled a bit but he's come good in the last few games.

"The start is so important in bowls because it sets you up. Colin has been bowling extremely well the last few weeks and that's helping us."

Parker revealed Port Fairy was keen to tackle Mortlake again next week - a side which dealt Red a "flogging" earlier in the season.

"They just absolutely flogged us when we went up there last time," he said.

"The conditions were poor but that's no excuse. It'd be nice to win the next two or three games of the five or so that are left.

"It'd be good to close out the season well."

Parker said the triumph over Warrnambool Blue laid the foundation for more success.

Parker's rink, skippered by Bob Mallett, recorded an 18-shot victory, while Steven Gibb's rink also notched a seven-shot win.

Chris Fox's rink fell to Alan Campbell's.

"It's always good to beat Warrnambool," Parker said.

"They're always a formidable team so it was definitely a good win to have."
